Spencer's 14th win out of 14 professional fights came after 2 minutes and
16 seconds of the fourth round in this contest scheduled for 12 rounds
when the referee stopped the fight after The Omen landed another clean
right hook onto the Frenchman Fabrice Beichou.
The Frenchman showed signs of his pedigree at the begining of each round,
but Spencer just wore him down with his ability to switch tactics and his
fast hands. The power behind the speed of Spencer's punches was clear for
all to see, and the former IBF World and three times European Champion
Beichou found himself climbing off the deck in the second and third rounds.
Spencer's army of fans argue about his main strength. Is it his ability
to think whilst he boxes, and switch his tactics accordingly, or is it the
sheer speed of his punches which continually make contact. Others regard
his main strength as being his fitness. His total control over every
movement can only be the result of hard training in the Gym, or is it
the sheer power behind the punch.
He is the complete boxer and he demonstrated that fact again tonight
against a very experienced and fit opponent.
After the fight Spencer was asked if he was looking for a fight
against Patrick Mullings or Michael Brodie. He answered "with respect to
those boxers, I have bigger fish to fry". Spencer wants to be world
champion, and today's 4th successful defence of his European Super
Bantamweight Title brings that moment a bit closer.
